The effect of pH upon the antitumor activity and toxicity of nitrogen mustard.

چکیده
Mice were given single injections of HN2 solution at pH 8 or pH 2. The alkaline preparation had an LDM of about 2 mg/kg while that for the acidic preparation was about 5 mg/kg. A simi lar difference in toxicity was seen when the HN2 w:asgiven as a series of small daily doses. The greater toxicity of the alkaline preparation was manifest also in the hématologie findings, and in the earlier deaths of mice given this preparation. Using animals bearing either the L-1210 ascites tumor or the Ehrlich ascite tu mor, a daily dose of the alkaline solution of nitrogen mustard was found which had a better antitumor effect than did the acidic solution. This finding suggests that an acidic solution of mustard does not have a preferential effect on tumor tissue compared with other tissues, and therefore an acidic solution of mustard offers no chemotherapeutic advantage over an alkaline solution.

Evaluation the Effect of Wild Mustard Densities and Nitrogen Fertilizer on Wheat Yield and Correlation between Traits
In order to study the effects of wild mustard competition and different levels of nitrogen on effective traits of wheat yield, this research was conducted in Ahvaz, south west of Iran. The study was consisted of a split plot experiment, on the basis of Randomized Complete Blocks Design with three replications. Different levels of nitrogen (90, 150 and 210 kgN.ha-1) were assigned in the main plo...
متن کاملCompetition between Wild Mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Different rate of Nitrogen
To study the effects of applied nitrogen levels and wild mustard densities on the growth of wheat and wild mustard, a field experiment was conducted at Re-search and Experimental Field of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz-Iran. The effects of three nitrogen levels namely 90, 150 and 210 kg.ha-1 and four wild mustard densities such as 0, 5, 10 and 15 plants.m-2 were evaluated in split plot arrang...
متن کاملAntitumor activity and bone marrow toxicity of aminoglucose mustard anticancer agents in mice.
In previous structure-activity studies, we have demonstrated that attachment of a glucose molecule to the chloroethylnitrosourea cytotoxic group produces a compound with reduced murine bone marrow toxicity and retention of full antitumor activity. To further define this protective role conferred by the glucose moiety in bone marrow cells, we have replaced the nitrosourea cytotoxic group with an...
متن کاملThe effect of dietary mineral supplements of the rat on the antitumor activity of 3-ethoxy-2-oxobutyraldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazone).
The antitumor activity and toxicity of 3-ethoxy-2-oxobutyraldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazone) (KTS) in rats bearing Walker 256 nitrogen-mustard-resistant carcinosarcoma (W-256-NMR) has been shown to be directly dependent on the dietary intake of cupric ion. The critical effect of environmental and dietary trace metals on KTS activity is further indicated by the fact that zinc and cobaltous ions may...
متن کاملEffect of Sulfur Mustard Toxicity on FLT3-ITD Gene Mutation in Sulfur Mustard Veterans
Background: Sulfur mustard (SM) is a chemical blistering warfare that affects different organs especially hematopoietic system. Prevalence of acute myeloblastic and lymphoblastic leukemia is increased by sulfur mustard exposure. FLT3-ITD mutation can be effective on leukemogenesis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to verify the frequency of FLT3-ITD mutation in the patients who exposed to S...
